The Upper Skagit Valley

Located in the center of what is recognized as one of the nation’s most scenic and primitive mountain areas, the Skagit Valley offers a variety of activities for the visitor. Some of the finest steelhead fishing in the world is on the Skagit River. For those who wish to explore on foot, horseback, bicycle or motorcycle a fine system of back roads and trails is available to the unsurpassed beauty of high country meadows, lakes, streams, high peaks and glaciers.

Five spectacular power dams, three on the upper Skagit and two on Baker River provide interesting tourist stops. All are within easy reach.

1500 acres of national preserve between Birdsview and Marblemount are set aside for bald eagles who come year after year to the Skagit River in search of salmon. Recent winter counts numbered nearly 300. The winter gathering of bald eagles is one of the largest remaining in the lower 48 States.

For the motorist, a well-developed road system will give access to many splendors of the primitive and rugged Cascade Mountains. Within a few miles the traveler can lose all contact with civilization and return to the country where nature is yet unspoiled.

The Inn is located close to the Skagit River, Baker Lake and North Cascades National Park.
